Services Provided
In any type of design work, the "fit" between the client and the vendor is very important.  Here are the typical steps in a project
  • meet with the potential client (you) to understand the scope and nature of the work

  • develop an outline of the specification and statement of work, in the form of a staged proposal
  • sketching/ideation early in the industrial design process
  • solid modeling / CAD later in the detailed design process
  • computer-generated, photorealistic renderings before prototyping (also gives marketing a head start with images they can use now [before prototype build] for sales and advertising)
  • prototype-build and test support relying on working with vendors who are used to working with electronic files and minimal drawings (saving time and money by not having to prepare full ANSI-spec drawings)
  • manufacturing support, helping you translate your new design into product ready to be shipped to your customers

I can also work with your design team to do any portion of these steps.  Examples include initial concept development, and modeling of difficult parts.

Skills, Techniques & Tools

Specification development prior to beginning project

Management of entire project, if needed

Sketching from line drawings to mixed media renderings

Cad models using SolidWorks and exisiting customer solid models.  Pro/Engineer support is also available.

Photo-realistic renderings using Photoworks

Prototype build management using your vendors or mine

E-mail and other Internet tools to minimize travel and make successful long distance projects feasible.  An example, is the free SolidWorks viewer that allows you to view and rotate your design in 3d.

SolidWorks ProE Translator or the SolidWorks IGES Translator to integrate your existing ProE (and other CAD/CAM system) files into your new design.
